Facts about Electrical Service to Newly Constructed Buildings

Newly constructed buildings or homes typically have the longest timeframe to receive electric service, as we have to work with different departments and timeframes to complete and provide you with electricity. These usually take a minimum of ten (10) working days from the time you complete the application and are approved membership until you have the electricity to your structure.

Service installation could be delayed if:

  • Easements have not been obtained

  • The workload is already full

  • Inclement weather

Construction of New Service can take several weeks to complete. It is essential for Members who need line work (i.e.: … JNEC must add a transformer, a new power line extended to your location, meter pole, etc.) to contact the Cooperative as soon as possible due to heavy demand for new service locations, conflicts with other utilities, easements, permits, etc.

If a deposit is required, the deposit shall not exceed an amount equivalent to one-sixth 1/6 of the estimated annual billing.
