Jasper-Newton
Electric Cooperative serves over 21,000 member accounts in Jasper, Newton,
Angelina, Orange and Sabine counties in East Texas.
JNEC
is an electric distribution cooperative owned by you, the members, who receive
service from the Cooperative. It was organized on June 7, 1943 by a small group
of progressive, far-sighted farmers who met at a small country church at Call
Junction, near Kirbyville.
The
cooperative is democratically run by the member-consumers who elect fellow
members to serve on the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors consists of
nine members who provide a geographic representation of the cooperative's
service area. The board meets the fourth Tuesday of each month and the
membership is welcome to attend.
JNEC
owns and maintains over 2,800 miles of line to serve member/consumers.
